This is talalay so it is softer than dunlop. It works great w/ my super firm mattress. I believe it won't offer as much support on beat up old mattresses... medium/firm Dunlop toppers are probably better for that.

I have a super firm mattress which is great for the back sleeper; however, I am sleeping sideways more often these days and the hard mattress was causing all my bones to ache in my sleep (hips, spine, shoulders). Since I started using this topper, my side sleeping is now so much better bc it offers support in the areas where there used to be gaps (between hip and shoulder). My only problem w/ this is sleeping on my back bc it gets hot on my back and I always had trouble w/ heat buildup in the mattress. Despite have larger holes than some other latex toppers, heat is still a problem for me. I added a layer of bamboo tiles in my back area under the bedsheet and that alleviated some of the heat problems. This mattress also makes the stomach sleeping so much more pleasant too, so now sleeping on my stomach is feasible. In the past, sleeping on my stomach gave me neck and hip aches.

I've had this for about 3 months now and certain areas has gotten less firm than when new. Will see how it is in a year. I am very pleased w/ it so far. The off-gassing some ppl complained about only lasted about a day or 2, so it's not an issue. It didn't smell like chemical stench.

Some things to note:
1. Topper cover isn't included and will cost about $75 shipped (w/o sales tax). I used a flat sheet over the topper, then a fitted sheet over entire mattress and topper. Cheap option if you don't want to buy the cover.
2. The topper will make your pillow taller since your torso will submerge slightly into the foam. Since your head isn't as heavy as your torso, it won't sink in like your torso, creating the raised pillow. This is more pronounced if you also use a latex pillow.
