This is my first foam mattress, and also my first new mattress purchase. I am a college student and needed something new but I don't need it to last forever. I was interested in support, because I am a bigger guy at 240. I have been sleeping on this mattress for about 2 weeks now and I have been pleasantly surprised with the level of comfort provided. I was a little hesitant about going with a firm mattress as I like that sinking feeling of a softer mattress.This mattress is firm when you first lay on it, but after a couple of seconds you can feel it start to conform to your body. (I assume it is this way with all foam mattresses.) I was also debating between the 8" or 10" versions and could not find a lot of help online about the real difference between foam mattress thicknesses other than the difficulty of finding sheets for thicker mattresses. I decided to save a couple extra dollars and go for the 8". It is fine except when I am sitting on the edge of my bed putting my shoes on. Then, since my body weight is concentrated in a small area, I sink all the way through the mattress to my bed frame. I bought a platform bed to go along with the mattress, so it isn't that big of an issue.
I read the reviews about the odor when you first open it, and I did notice a faint odor. But I let it air out for about 3 hours while it puffed itself back up, and by the time I went to bed that night I didn't notice anything. The mattress is rather heavy when it was rolled up in the box.
All in all I am pleased with my purchase, although I would probably go with the 10" thick mattress if I did this again.
